Gently Into That Good Night and The New Decade...

2019 transitioned to 2020 in the best way possible for me, uneventfully.  The Missus was battling the residual effects of a Christmas cold so we called an audible on our plans and bade farewell to the decade well in advance of the ball drop in Times Square.  To no one's surprise, the ball dropped right on time even though I was not in front of my television to see it.  David Lee Roth was right after all.  Life did indeed go on without me.

I spent the late afternoon/early evening on New Year's Eve at the Shore.  I had some chores to tend to at our little Paradise by the Sea before heading south to Manasquan for the Jersey Shore Running Club's Annual Twilight Run, which begins and ends on the boardwalk.  It was a little bit chilly (it was December in Jersey after all) but nevertheless it was a very nice afternoon.  While Gidg, Jeff, and I were killing time waiting for the Run to start, and Lynne was reminding the three of us just how much bigger her brain is than any of ours by holding down the fort at Leggett's, I captured a few last 2019 photographs of my favorite place...

Even on a cold winter afternoon, I am hard-pressed to think of a place I would rather be than right there, taking in all of that beauty.  It never fails to soothe me.

The Twilight Run is a "fun run", which means no official times are recorded.  In case you were wondering, Gidg out-leaned Jeff at the tape for first place while I finished a respectable third.

2019 was the year in which my doctor prescribed me a pill designed to keep me from having to get up multiple times a night so, by my way of thinking, third place was an accomplishment to savor. Besides, I won first-place in the "Best Dressed Runner" competition...

...or maybe it was first-place in the "Biggest Ego" competition.  As I get older, the memory is not what it once was.

I wonder if there is a pill for that...
