Today, somewhere, the late, great Harold Ramis is smiling. At least, I hope he is. The man who gave us Groundhog Day almost thirty years ago
where Bill Murray's Phil Connors finds himself trapped in an apparently endless loop on this very day in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania must appreciate the fact that this year Groundhog Day is a calendar palindrome. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Calendrome!
02 02 2020
Hopefully, Groundhog Day 2020 will pass significantly quicker for us than it did for Phil Connors. By the time you read this, I presume that I shall already have lived through the best part of my day. Today is the day registration opens for the Spring Lake 5 Mile Race on May 23, 2020. Annually, it is for me the unofficial kickoff to the summer.
Regardless of how cold, snowy, and shitty February proves to be (it is February in New Jersey after all - and in a Leap Year), from the time I complete my Spring Lake 5 registration, I believe that the light at the end of winter's tunnel is something other than the business end of the Amtrak Acela Express heading south to D.C.
