"No one can promise you
Life will be fair --
but if you keep your eyes on the prize,
everything will fall into place."
-Rehan Staton
Every now and then, I learn of a person whose acquaintance I shall likely never make, but by whom I am simply so impressed that I find myself rooting hard for his or her success. Twenty-four-year-old Rehan Staton is such a person.
I knew nothing of the story of the Staton family (Rehan, his big brother Reggie, and their dad) until I stumbled across this piece on Friday night's "Person of the Week" segment on ABC World News Tonight with David Muir.
Truthfully, if this young man's life story was a movie (you remember those things, right?) produced by Disney, a considerable percentage of the audience likely would leave the theater at film's end wondering just how much dramatic license the filmmakers had taken. Spoiler alert: None needs to be taken. Not even a little bit.
Extraordinary young man. Extraordinary family.
"Just love yourself enough
to always give yourself what you want.
Life's not going to be fair - I can promise you,
it won't be fair but if you put in the work,
you stay disciplined, you stay hungry,
Everything will fall into place."
