The Potent Power of the Sea

All hail the abbreviated work week!  This week's observance of Independence Day on Friday, July 3 turned "WFB" Friday into "WFB" Thursday. That fact, coupled with my having worked from Lake Como on Monday as the Missus and I awaited a furniture delivery means that one-half of this week's revenue-generating days have originated from our little Paradise by the Sea.  The goal, of course, remains 100% of the revenue-generating days but, truthfully, for present purposes I would take 50% any week.

Monday dawned hot and humid.  It was June in Jersey after all.  Shortly after sunrise, I went for a short, two-mile run, the outward leg of which took me south down 3rd Avenue towards Spring Lake's downtown area.

A few minutes after six a.m., having made my way east to the boardwalk, I began the inward leg of my run, heading north on the boards to home.  The early morning sunrise over the ocean was, as it always is for me, nothing short of an elixir for my soul.

I wrapped Monday's run on the boards at 17th Avenue in Belmar.  Before I moseyed my way home up 17th Avenue, I stopped to check out Maggie's Playground, which has been closed since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and which I hope remains closed until Maggie and Cal play on it next summer.

There may be places on earth as pretty as the Jersey Shore in the early-morning hours of the summer but there is none prettier.

None.
