The Early Bird Special

As you might have heard, it rained a bit in these parts on Friday.  It rained more than a bit at the Shore. Fortunately, I am an early riser.

In more than fifty-three years as an early bird, I have yet to see a single worm.  I have, however, seen my share of simply stunning early morning skies.

Friday morning, in the heat and humidity I slogged my way through two-and-one-half miles.  I originally intended to run around Lake Como's northern side and then down 3rd Avenue into Spring Lake.  When I started east on 17th Avenue, I was simply drawn to the colors of the sky out over the water.  I continued east on 17th until I reached the boardwalk, which I did approximately seven minutes before sunrise.

Am I ever happy that I decided to alter my course...
